Looking Forward

This last year was a tough one. Financially, emotionally, everything had its ups and downs. But it’s a new year – and I look forward to it. It’s as good a time as any to embrace the positive and let the past go. Who knows what 2010 holds in store? I’m ready, let’s go.

Twiggy

That was her nickname when she married my Dad. Now she’s known as Grandma. Eighty-four years young, she’s still skinny and yet every ounce of her seems full of energy. When she visits you can bet it’ll be a week of clean laundry.

This is a melancholy time, though. My father passed away four years ago this week. I know she misses him terribly.

Stuffed with Nostalgia

Okay, I seem to have shot a lot of nostalgic images this month. But, hey, ’tis the season and all.

This has been my stocking since I was tiny. Hand made and fragile looking, it’s still holding itself together. It doesn’t hold much physical stuff, but it carries a ton of magic in it.

Around the bend again

This little locomotive, its cars and HO gauge track have been around since I was a kid. It’s still fun to hassle with it until it gets running around the tree, headlight beaming.

It’s not just the little kids that enjoy it.

Jammin’ at PHL

My theory is, the larger the crowd, the lower the intelligence level. Add a little snow to the mix and common sense goes out the window. The result is one messed-up traffic ~~flow~~ jam at the airport. Heated seats kept the stress level down, though, so calmer heads prevailed.

Holiday Card

Snow Cone

Shoveling a foot of snow out of the driveway, ugly. But, looking up (while taking one of many breaks to catch my breath) I’m reminded yet again it’s the point of view that determines if a moment is a treat.
